About The Directory
The Dance Directory was formed through necessity by Shirley and John Evans, as they found that while travelling around the country, they could not find a dance club, the time, or venue. Eventually as Shirley and John continued to travel around the North and South Islands they made sure they found out where a dance was on, contacted the people concerned, and asked if they would like to be in a Dance Directory that John was producing.
In 1997 with the computer age fast approaching, they handed the Directory to Elaine and George Wright, who continued to publish it until 2002. Then, the publication, in a natural progression, was passed to, and redesigned by, the N.Z. Modern & Classical Sequence Dance Federation Inc. Select a region to view clubs and dance information. |
It met with a great response and so in 1992-93 Shirley and John produced the first directory with approx. 85 venues in 34 towns in the North Island and 14 towns in the South Island.
